Technically, it’s not “legal” and is considered copyright infringement, but some songs are permitted because of the record companies have licensed some of their music on YouTube, sometimes the anime companies will have AMVs pulled off because they own the rights to the anime.
Because of Warner Music Groups big fallout with YouTube it is STRONGLY suggested that you do not upload any AMVs with music owned by Warner Music Group as it will either be muted or pulled off with a copyright claim by WMG.
